Recommended Tools and Supplies:
1. A short piece of 2x4 to prop up the trolling motor for installation and initial testing.
2. Set of ball end, T-handle hex wrenches. We recommend the Klein JTH610EB (Amazon) because they are long and they have the 3/32” wrench which is required for the Flexdisc screws.
3. Towel to lay over the trolling motor frame to catch screws.
4. Snips/Side cutters for notching the slot for the pivot sensor wire.
5. 1/16” drill bit to pilot the holes for the pivot sensor.
6. Small Phillips head screwdriver for pivot magnet.
7. For Garmin Force you will also need a 9/16” wrench for the motor mount bracket to trolling motor bolts.
Motor/Rail Installation
1. Disassemble the motor laying out the parts and fasteners as they were installed.
2. Install the magnet/bracket and pivot sensor.
3. Remove chartplotters, mounts, etc. that are necessary to gain access to the front well of the boat.
4. Pre-wire the motor module (5 pin 3meter cable) as it is much easier to access the cable connector with the motor off the trolling motor.
5. Install the mounting plate to the motor module (not for Lowrance Ghost)
6. Install the Flexdisc on the shaft with the three 10/32 screws pointing up and the 8/32 pointing down.
7. Install the Delrin drive gear, trolling motor mirror drive gear, and upper rail mount on the shaft.
8. Screw the three 8/32 fasteners down through the top of the two-piece upper shaft mount (left of the flexdisc in above photo).
9. Screw the three 10/32 fasteners up through to the Delrin drive gear.
10. Install the motor/bracket/bump buster with the drive and trolling motor pickup gear in the motor housing. Important – make sure that the drive gear is installed such that the screws on the upper rail mount are facing straight up when the trolling motor is stowed.
11. Now Install the motor side cover.
12. Don’t install the rail yet. Wait until everything else is complete and then you have done an initial setup – preliminary clearance and park position set and zero to keel. Once complete, then install the upper and lower rail and transducers.
13. Note: When installing the Garmin Force rail centering rings, they are now the same size for the upper and lower rings. Early video indicated that they were different sizes but we are now making them the same.
